GOP Gathering Focuses on Rebuilding, Strengthening Party for 2014

ANAHEIM, CA – The California Republican Party kicked off its 2013 Fall Convention today at the Hilton Anaheim, where nearly 1,000 delegates and grassroots activists have gathered to determine the future of the California GOP and to prepare for a crucial election cycle next year. Newly-elected Chairman Jim Brulte recently announced that the state party has retired $1 million in debt and is focused on strengthening party operations from the ground up.

“In order for this party to succeed, we have to focus on doing what a party should do best: help get candidates elected,” said Chairman Brulte. “The good news is that we’ve paid off our debt and are already banking money for the resources we’ll need in 2014 to help Republicans keep our House majority, eliminate the Democrats’ super-majority in the state Legislature, and start building our farm team.”

The convention will feature a Latino Elected Officials roundtable, as well as a special roundtable for Asian Pacific American Elected Officials. There are also technology and messaging workshops which will help Republican leaders and activists to better connect with California voters.

Brulte added, “Thanks to an unprecedented investment by Republicans at the national level, we’re able to start developing relationships with key communities to get our message to every part of California. We’re pushing the party outside of its comfort zone, and we’re already seeing the benefits.”

Guest speakers at this convention include Texas Governor Rick Perry, National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Greg Walden, Republican National Committee Co-Chairman Sharon Day, and famed economist Art Laffer.
